| Note | Heavy, deep water, moderately large and inflated shell with cream primary coloration, modest dorsal spotting pattern, and strong shades of light pink gracing the extremities. The shell is solid, with outstanding nacre gloss and a heavy weight/size ratio (73.1 grams). Note that there are present glazed dimpled sculptures seen on posterior dorsum photograph, typical of species. Extremities are flawless. The heavy shell features a China white base and lateral walls. The specimen was taken by ROV crawling on sand among sponges at 85 meters off Israelite Bay, Esperance, Western Australia in 4/2022. The shell has had a rough life. It shows dorsal growth folds on the anterior ramp and mid-dorsum, a wobble depression mid-dorsum (most likely a healed fish bite), and glazed inclusions on the posterior columellar base. Grade: F++. |
