| Note | Once in a while, superior specimens are taken by divers that are outstanding. This bataviensis is one of them. Superb nacre gloss, excellent weight/size ratio (24.0 grams), notable mottled dorsal blotch, China-white primary color and magnificent basal patterning with concavity associated spotting characterize this specimen. From the flawless extremities to the distinctive intensely tuberculated margins and symmetrically balance of the flared margins, this shell is hard to match. A collectors dream. Scuba diver captured at 42 meters on sponge, 4 nautical miles NW of Rat Island, mid-channel between Easter and Wallabi Groups, Western Australia. The shell was sitting on a Geodia sponge nestled on a limestone ridge line in open ocean in 4/2012. Leg & EX: Daniel Edinger. Grade: GEM. |
