| Note | Unusually large, close to WRS specimen with an excellent display of dorsal lacunae. It shows a wisp of a dorsal line, profound inflation, perfect siphons and a flawless base. The lateral wall spotting is memorable. Striking bronze colored pyriform representative of this attractive Hawaiian endemic cowrie. The shell shows a perfect deep luster nacre on the brightly red/brown hued dorsum, flawless extremities and base. Brilliant distribution of off-white lacunae on the dorsum and characteristic black spotting on the lateral walls and margins. Taken by scuba diver on night dive off Waianae, Oahu, Hawaii on a drop off under boulders on red sponges and algae at 9-10 meters in 1984. The shell has no visible defects. Grade: GEM. |
