| Note | This is the last specimen of mariae left from my collection. To my taste it is the most beautiful I ever had, but not a gem shell. There is a minute mark on the anterior dorsum where that sort of virtual mantle line separates the clusters of orange dots covering both sides of the shell. The mark is indicated by the blue circle in the dorsal image. I am not sure of what it is: the gloss appears undamaged over it. This is a hard species to take pictures of, particularily with a cellphone: please ask for more images if interested, I will do my best to provide images clarifying the quality of thia shell. It was collected by scuba at night at 22 mt on the wall of a surge channel off Samar Island, in the East Visayas, in 1997. |
