| Note | Giant live-taken specimen from an old collection. Subspecies 'johnsoni' found in northern Australia, most specimens were taken during the heyday of Australian trawling in the 80's-90's on the outskirts of the Northwest Shelf. Since the ban on all trawling activities in the mid 2000's, virtually no specimens have been collected since and are now only available from old collections. Exceptional condition specimen from an old WA collection, with periostracum and operculum. Gem lip/canals, no faults I can see ~ F+++/GEM. Trawled at 475m off Scott Reef, Northwest Shelf, Western Australia. |
