| Note | Classic specimen with a wonderful color gradation pattern on the spire melting over into two modest bands on the strongly pigmented chestnut brown body whorl. The shell features wide varice expansion, making it a highly collectable California classic. The foliatum has beautiful form, moderate heavy weight/size ratio, solid/perfect siphonal canal and aperture lip. The shell features excellent structural characteristics considering the turbulent ocean conditions in this area of California. Captured by Scuba diver off the Channel Islands, California on boulders at 8-10 meters between kelp forests in 4/2016. The shell has an intact protoconch, spire, aperture lips and siphonal canal. The foliatum shows minor wear of some varix edges. Grade: F+++. |
