| Note | Lovely and moderately large murex shell with perfect apex, siphonal canal and intact aperture lip. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping and axial cording on the body whorl. The beauty of this specimen are the elaborate striking erect structures branching into exceptional pale violet/white backswept foliaceous processes. The impact of the combined spiraling and elevated structures from the posterior view is exceptional and makes the specimen highly collectable. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand/rubble substrate by tangle/trap net at 12-15 meters in 2018. The shell has encrusting growth on the spire, some erosion on older spire erect structures and a mini-chip on the anterior siphonal canal channel. Grade: F++/F+++. |
