| Note | Excellent and admirable example of a hard to find rare California murex form. The shell shows large, expanded winged varices with broad varix flanges. Strong colored spiral banding on the body whorl is accentuated/defined and streaming onto the varices in a classic aesthetic display characteristic of tremperi. Great contrast coloration between the dark vs white/pale brown banding. The specimen has a remarkable and beautiful display of varices and axial symmetry, excellent protoconch, spire and siphonal canal.....making it a highly collectable specimen. Collected by Scuba diver off Big Sur, California at 10-12 meters on flat hard bottom in 2012. Grade: F+++. |
