| Note | An EXCEPTIONAL exceedingly large specimen of this rare species. RARE QUALITY for the size and species. Rich and beautiful colour. Hypermature, with markedly thickened peristome. The specimen was collected by Andean natives of the Santander region. Deforestation and logging in the region have rendered this species even rarer than hitherto. Typical minor issues invariably associated with this species, but far less than usually encountered. Hypermature, with greatly thickened peristome. Data: Serranía de Los Yariguíes region, Department of Santander, Colombia; upon soil substrate, amongst leaf litter, after rain, in montane forest, at 1600+ MAMSL; September 2023. Size: 87.9 mm. Grading: Fine+++. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
