| Note | The specimen is registered as the world record smallest venusta episema. A strongly aesthetic shell, with excellent pigmentation. This colourful subspecies with a lovely pattern and a desirable dorsal blotched maculae shifted to the labral dorsum/lateral wall and anterior ramp. Super-glazed, moderate weight/size ratio and perfect extremities, base and margins. The specimen shows modest rostration and displays an emerging blue hue below the dorsal blotch. Taken by Scuba diver at 5-10 meters on a sponge sponge nestled on a rock in 1998 off Rottnest Island, Western Australia. The has been illustrated in: Sea and Land Shells of the Don Pisor Collection, p. 98, number 1. EX: Don Pisor. The specimen shows a subtle growth crease/recess on the labral anterior ramp. Grade: F+++. |
