| Note | A few more shells on this auction from my personal collection. This one I obtained in 1993. The original tag said Albany, which was obviously wrong. A superb, jumbo-sized Perth area friendii, almost impossible size to obtain now. Specimen is in impressive condition given the size, just a couple of subtle imperfections. Anterior canal is perfect, posterior canal has a minor nick on the columella side and a couple of shallow nickson the labral side, but these are far from offensive and don't disrupt the overall shape of the canals. Also a minor tiny silt grain on the anterior dorsal ramp, a cluster of `water windows' on the columella margin and minor stressing on the base, mainly one pale stress line on the mid columella side. Nevertheless displays superbly. May look a bit more red in the photo than it is in reality, shell is brownish, due to the age (possibly collected way back in the 70's or 80's?) it has probably become quite brown and is not blackish like some pulled straight from the ocean. Lovely balanced overall pattern and brown margins. Scarce opportunity. |
