This is the atypical form of Solaropsis gibboni, which may differ slightly in its characteristics due to its geographic location compared with the S. gibboni populations from the department of Santander. Specimens from this locality are generally larger and display a somewhat less-defined pattern, but this is more than compensated for by the vibrant copper-brown coloration characteristic of specimens from the department of Huila. They are considerably scarcer and more difficult to encounter. This particular specimen was collected among the leaf litter of humid forest at an elevation of 1,280 meters above sea level in January 2024, and no further specimens have been found since that time. The photograph does not do justice to its true beauty and coloration. A truly uncommon opportunity for collectors to acquire a distinctive geographic form of Solaropsis gibboni, rarely encountered and especially appealing for an international malacological collection. A remarkable specimen worthy of attention in an international auction, particularly for collectors seeking unusual, locality-specific forms of Neotropical land snails.
