| Note | GEM. The biggest giant callous gaskoini I have ever obtained. Hyper mature specimen with deltoid shape, excellent high marginal callous and thicken base. Dark pattern and colour. Perfect extremities. Over the last decade, cowrie specimens in Hawaii became smaller in size and slender instead of callous, mainly due to rise of sea temperature. By now the true callous and huge size gaskoini has not been found for very long time. Recent collected gaskoini are slender shape and seldom callous and size often between 18mm to 22mm. This is my biggest gaskoini which I kept in my collection for over 3 decades. It is time to find the next good home for this magnificent giant specimen. A true rarity now. Collected alive by night diving in 35 feet deep, on the side of red sponge rock, Aug 1997. |
