This species is the rarest of all species in Oman and one of the rarest Volutidae in the world. It is known from only a few dozen dead specimens, of which no more than 10 are in good condition. All known specimens of this species were found after major typhoons on a small beach on the eastern side of Masirah Island. The beach is only about a kilometer long. This place is unique because there is a fault there, and an oceanic deepwater canyon comes right up to the shore. That is why some deepwater shell species are washed up onto the beach during strong hurricanes. The last such hurricane occurred on the island in autumn 2019. It was then that local residents discovered several dozen new specimens of this species. The following six years brought no new finds. Even the intensified search for shells among local divers did not change the situation. The species remains very rare and almost inaccessible. This particular specimen was also found in 2019 and has been kept in my personal collection. It is a very bright and beautiful specimen; in places, it retains its original shine. This is the best Leisly I have ever seen. The only flaw is a damaged lip. Don’t miss the chance to have this shell in your collection, as this is one of the species that, due to its rarity, can confidently be called an investment. Payment in RMB are possible.
