| Note | A large 70mm and very broad example of this famous cone endemic to the remote Marqueses Islands. Fresh dead taken specimen from 38 metres . Lovely pinky orange specimen with orange and pinkish lateral banding peppered with the snowflake spots and the black random blotches. Lovely black and white dashed perimeter around the spire. Obviously a big old solid shell that lived to a ripe old age. Lips good except a minor lip chip in the top corner.Spire is good and complete. Some erosion and pitting on the dorsum as a result of long and full life. The erosion and pitting can be seen in the dorsal view photograph which forms part of this description. |
