| Note | SPECIAL SALE – MASTERPIECES OF THE JES COLLECTION: One of the FINEST known specimens of this exceedingly rare, diminutive, endemic deep-water Queensland species. Rare quality – LIVE-COLLECTED PERFECTION. The majority of examples incur trawl damage to the ultra-delicate siphonal canal – perfect in the current specimen. Supremely well-formed pattern of the highest aesthetic merit. Characteristic high gloss. A product of the legendary 1980s Queensland trawls – never collected since – and now obtainable only upon those very rare occasions when released from the choicest old collections. One of the great volute treasures of the JES Collection, now to be passed to a highly advanced Volutidae specialist seeking a ‘top of the line’ specimen of this now almost impossible to obtain species. Data: Capricorn Channel, Queensland, Australia; upon fine-grained sediment substrate; 80-100 m; trawled; 1983. Size: 32.4 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
