NoteSPECIAL SALE – MASTERPIECES OF THE JES COLLECTION: An EXCEPTIONAL very large specimen of the most sought after form of this rare and much coveted endemic Coral Sea species. The specimen is of the rare type sought by the connoisseur, in which: 1) the axial lines are profuse; 2) the colour of the axial lines is an exceedingly rich RED-ORANGE; 3) the ground is suffused with delicate pink. Not freshly collected for over two decades, and never likely to be so again, such outstanding specimens are now obtainable only when released from the choicest old collections. An extremely rare opportunity for an advanced Volutidae specialist to acquire a ‘top of the line’ example of this rare form of one of Australia’s ‘classic’ rarities. Data: Coral Sea, off East Diamond Islet, Diamond Islets & Tregosse Reefs, North-Western Group, Australian Coral Sea Territory, Australia; upon coarse coral sand/rubble substrate, at night; 10-26 m; dredged; 1999. Size: 76.4 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne.
