| Note | Endemic to the Colombian Andes, a region where, unfortunately, vast expanses of the original humid and cloud forests have disappeared, shells of this exceptional quality are becoming increasingly scarce and highly coveted by advanced collectors worldwide. This remarkably fresh specimen retains 100% of its original periostracum, imparting a beautiful, lustrous sheen across the entire shell surface and enhancing its outstanding natural appearance. It is readily distinguished by its striking inferior band, elegantly ornamented with alternating black and white coloration. In this particular specimen, the band is exceptionally broad, sharply defined, and remarkably well preserved, making it an especially attractive and distinctive feature. The black lip gradually transitions into an exquisite violet hue, adding further elegance and visual appeal to this superb shell. A magnificent collector’s piece, gathered among the leaf litter of a humid montane forest at an elevation of 1,570 metres above sea level in August 2026. Its remarkable freshness, complete periostracal covering, and beautifully defined colour pattern make it a particularly desirable acquisition for discerning malacologists and serious shell collectors. An exceptional opportunity to acquire a rare endemic treasure of the Colombian Andean malacofauna. With its outstanding freshness, complete periostracum, striking black-and-white banding, and elegant violet-toned lip, this exquisite shell would make a superb centrepiece in any high-quality specialist collection. Do not miss this special international auction opportunity to add this beautiful and highly desirable Andean rarity to your collection! |
