| Note | Magnificent specimen of Drymaeus felix, displaying an exceptional chromatic pattern of rich zigzag bands in blackish-brown and ash-grey tones, harmoniously arranged across a lustrous shell surface. Particularly striking is a clean, narrow white basal band that encircles the entire circumference of the last whorl, creating a remarkable visual contrast that greatly enhances the shell’s aesthetic balance and immediately distinguishes this specimen from typical representatives of the species. The shell features a fully developed and thickened peristome, an unmistakable indicator of complete maturity, perfectly preserved and accentuating the specimen’s refined morphology. The aperture reveals a violet interior, a highly prized feature among discerning collectors that immediately captures attention and considerably enhances the shell’s display appeal. Collected among the leaf litter of a pristine Andean cloud forest at 2,260 meters above sea level in September 2026, its high-altitude provenance further reinforces its exclusivity. Specimens of this species combining such a high degree of maturity, excellent preservation, and vibrant coloration, particularly from elevations of this magnitude, are rarely encountered on the international market. An exceptional opportunity to acquire a visually captivating specimen of D. felix, representative of its natural ecological habitat and destined to become a centerpiece that commands attention and inspires competitive bidding in any serious collection of Neotropical land snails. |
