| Note | Dived in 40-50m, crabbed. There has been a number of small Transkei Callipara africana offered and sold as subsp. pumila by unscrupulous dealers on this action, eBay and Shellcabinet. Here I am showing the two together, a small (but adult) crabbed africana from Coffee Bay (58mm) and a subsp. pumila from Natal South Coast (Pumula Reef) at 46mm (which is quite a large size for pumila). THe pumila has a small hole, but is still a very nice specimen of this rare subspecies. THe transkei africana comes FOC with the pumila. |
