Item | # 0001921840 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Umbilia hesitata beddomei - OUTSTANDING , Schilder, 1930 |
Size | 69.3 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | Certainly one of the BEST and most beautiful examples of the NSW form of beddomei I have ever seen. Ultra-rich caramel-ochre, with dark brown maculae. Spectacular pure white margins with caramel naculae, and a central purplish area where margins and dorsum coalesce. Dense, ?saturated? pattern. Extremely minimal typical mud inclusions at dentition. Heavy for size; hypermature. Definitely for the Umbilia specialist. Size: 69.3 mm (length). Grading: F++++. Data: Off Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; upon mud/sand substrate; 180-220 m; trawled; 1981. |
