Item | # 0001922174 | Family | Cypraeidae | Name | Zoila venusta - RED, SHOAL CAPE FORM. , (Sowerby, 1846) |
Size | 70.3 mm |
Locality | Shoal Cape, S.W. Australia. |
Note | It is not really appreciated how rare the Shoal Cape venusta is to obtain in a reasonable quality.
The location is a high energy ocean region with heavy swells and currents, with constant turbulent water. Even the best of the well known BLACK TOPS and RED TOP venusta from this region have at least some fine to heavy silt pimples and nacre windows. This specimen is well above average in quality with a lovely rich pink dorsal coloured background and RED/GINGER dorsal markings. Graded FINE++/FINE+++ with some really fine micro silting and a small whitish coloured glossed over nacre chip on the columellar margin towards the posterior end. A quality specimen that I will not risk at 1 Euro starting price, as I will be happy to keep it. Diver collected in 15M. in reef ledge, Shoal Cape, S.W. Australia. |
