Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 5: Part five of my extra special sales comprised mainly of exceptional specimens from my private collection, (indicated with JES provenance in description). Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. UMBILIA HESITATA: (Six choice specimens from my hesitata collection are offered in this sale, each with exemplary colour and pattern.) An ultra-large and magnificent specimen, exhibiting a profusion of rich caramel dorsal maculae, arranged in a most aesthetically pleasing design. Extremely steep posterior dorsal acclivity, creating a markedly humped appearance. No mud inclusions to dentition, (a rare phenomenon for the species). Meticulously curated, with the appearance of having been collected this year. For the Umbilia specialist. Size: 101.5 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Eden, New South Wales, Australia; upon mud/sand/detritus substrate; 160-240 m; trawled; 1986. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
