Note | EXTRA SPECIAL SALE - PART 5: Part five of my extra special sales comprised mainly of exceptional specimens from my private collection, (indicated with JES provenance in description). Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. CYPRAEA SUBVIRIDIS ANCEYI: The only specimen I have ever seen of the deep-water anceyi form exhibiting rich red terminals. The remainder of the specimen adheres to the typical colour and pattern of the anceyi form, but the deep red terminals and reddish pink margins, with their resplendent ultra-high gloss, are an incredibly striking and aesthetically attractive feature. One tiny fold to columellar side of dorsum, but otherwise perfection. A really remarkable example for the advanced Cypraeidae specialist. Size: 31.4 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Great Keppel Island, Queensland, Australia; upon sand/rubble substrate; 40-60 m; dredged; 1987. Provenance: JES private collection, Melbourne/London. |
