UMBILIA HESITATA: (Six choice specimens from my hesitata collection are offered in this sale, each with exemplary colour and pattern.) A superb specimen, exhibiting dense, confluent dorsal maculae of rich tan, and deep caramel marginal maculae across a pure white ground to spectacular aesthetic effect. Extremely clean ventrum, with no typical sand/mud inclusions. Meticulously curated, with the appearance of having been collected this year. Size: 83.1 mm (length). Grading: F+++. Data: Off Sydney, New South Wales, Australia; upon mud/sand/detritus substrate; 150-250 m; trawled; 1982. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
