Another opportunity to acquire outstanding and unique seashells from one of the world’s pre-eminent collections. AMORIA DAMONI: Possibly the BEST giant specimen of the nominate known, I have seen no other example to rival this incredible shell. Like the Cypraea cervus also offered in this sale, the word 'breathtaking' is entirely appropriate for this unique specimen. Most giants of this size are damoni reticulata. It is exceedingly rare to see the true nominate subspecies at this enormous size. Magnificent, perfectly formed pattern throughout. Hypermature, with great weight to size ratio. Completely natural outer apertural lip with no artificial smoothing. Collected over half a century ago, when enormous sizes were still available, and meticulously curated ever since. A treasured item from my private collection, to be passed now only to another connoisseur of the world's very BEST seashells. Size: 122.9 mm (length). Grading: F+++.
