Locality | Kangean Island, Indonesia |
Note | (OM-1479) SUPER SPECIAL COLOR! According to some cowry experts, this shell has been infected by some bacteria or disease in the natural habitat. It has very special dotted margin to the base. The light brown (pale) color is the highlight to this shell. Fully adult specimen as you can see from the callous teeth. It has two tone dorsum color, half dark half light. Hyper-callous margins with the beautiful dots, which is very rare for this species. From my 20 years of dealing with seashells, this is the first time to see such a beautiful specimen. F+++: small crack line, just above the margin with a few inclusion on dorsum. For me, this is a ONE OF A KIND specimen. Must have for some advance cowry collectors. I always mention whatever I see as a defect on the shell by using magnifier. The grading is not a standard, it is just for general information on the quality of the shell. The beauty of the shell you can just see from the photos. |
