Item | # 0002202485 | Family | Conidae | Name | Conus vexillum - RARE W.AUST. SPECIMEN. , (Gmelin, 1791) |
Size | 95.0 mm |
Locality | Dampier, N.W. Australia. |
Note | One for the Conidae collectors. A specimen of Conus vexillum taken from the Western Australian coast off Dampier N.W. Australia. This species is particularly uncommon here, so I would think few conidae collectors would have such a specimen off Western Australia. Quite LARGE at 95mm and great quality with no erosion and with natural growth steps and only one small line down near anterior lip. Intertidal collected under coral slab, on oceanic side of Airport Reef, Dampier Arch. Provenance of my parents and sisters collection, circa 1980's. |
