Note | A superb specimen of the uncommon, deep-water South Australian form, which differs from the intertidal form of Victoria and Tasmania in having a finer shell, and exhibiting beautiful rich ochre-caramel throughout. Exemplary quality for this typically very rough, trawled form, with perfect outer apertural lip and siphonal canal. Painstakingly cleaned, with no encrustation or erosion. Now obtainable only from old collections. Size: 99.2 mm (length). Grading: F+++; w/o. Data: Nuyts Archipelago, off Ceduna, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 60-80 m; trawled; 1999. |
