Note | A magnificent GIANT specimen of the supremely beautiful Queensland form, exhibiting the rich golden yellow-orange apertural interior for which the form is renowned. This is the uncommon nominate subspecies, (as opposed to the more plentiful S. a. aratrum, with dark staining to the apertural edge). Rare quality for such advanced size and age. The LARGEST specimen I have to offer of this form. Size: 86.6 mm (length). Grading: Gem. Data: Off Cape Bedford, Cooktown, Queensland, Australia; upon sand substrate at low tide; 1986. Provenance: JES private collection; Melbourne/London. |
