Item | # 0003176270 |
Family | Strombidae |
Name | Strombus alatus - SPECIAL COLOR , Gmelin, 1791 |
Size | 76.43 mm, w/o |
Locality | CelestĂșn, Yucatan, Mexico |
Note | Rarely offered from the Yucatan population. Special light yellow/white specimen. Picked from dozens of specimens due to its unique colors. It also has very short spines, which give it a resemblance to the Panamic Strombus gracilior, certainly a very unique shell both in color and shape. Some minor roughness in the anterior canal.
Found alive by a local fisherman, while free diving at 4m deep, on a muddy terrain.
The shell comes with operculum, though it was not shown in the pictures in order to better show the aperture. |
