Family | Strombidae |
Name | Strombus alatus - SPECIAL COLOR , Gmelin, 1791 |
Size | 76.38 mm, w/o |
Locality | CelestĂșn, Yucatan, Mexico |
Note | Rarely offered from the Yucatan population. Beautiful dark brown pattern with zigzag lines all over the body whorl and spire. Selected from among dozens of specimens for its special color pattern.
Pretty good condition for this one, with almost invisible roughness in the anterior canal area.
Found alive by a local fisherman, while free diving at 4m deep, on a muddy terrain.
The shell comes with operculum, though it was not shown in the pictures in order to better show the aperture. |
