Family | Olividae |
Name | Felicioliva peruviana f. fulgurata - nice , (Lamarck, 1811) |
Size | 43 mm |
Locality | Puerto Viejo, Atacama, Chile |
Note | One nice specimen of Felicioliva peruviana forma fulgurata in good condition for the species, having only a bit of erosion in its ventral side, which is common in the species (it was collected alive). This erosion is more evident in the photos due to the shiny of the shell but it is not so noticeable to the naked eye. This species have several different color patterns, varying from deep brown color to almost white, but they live all in the same areas, and there are often specimens with very different shells living together. This particular specimen is a common color variant, where the shell have a pattern of conected brownish axial streaks on a pink background. This specimen was collected alive buried in sand at a sandy protected beach in northern Chile (Puerto Viejo). |
