Note | CHOCOLATE COLORS IN TRAPEZIUM - SELDOM SEEN MARVELOUS FASCIOLARIIDS. The animal of the trapezium is wine red with white spots all over. Once in a while you will see this species, not very deep, usually around 6 m, eating another mollusk. At several occasions I have seen trapezium eating another trapezium! The trapezium lives from the east African coasts all the way to China, the Philippines, Japan and Australia. Apparently the species does not venture far into the Pacific.
Here a set with a very rare dark trapezium, almost black paired with a large orange piece, equally very rare.
Philippines. North of Cebu. Bantayan Island. 10-25 m. 2018.
SIZES: ORANGE = 140.3 mm, BROWN = 113 mm.
