Item | # 0003292700 |
Family | Fasciolariidae |
Name | Pleuroploca trapezium - ALBINISTIC , Linnaeus, 1758 |
Size | 146.7 mm |
Locality | Philippines |
Note | A WHITE trapezium: ALBINISTIC.
The common trapezium, but in a rare white coloration, seldom seen. Well sized and in nice quality.
By collecting this species you save the life of many other mollusks, as this species is a voracious predator of other gastropods mainly, throughout the Philippine reefs.
The animals are bright carmine red with some shiny white points.
This is what we call an “albinistic” shell. Not completely white, but tending to.
Philippines. Zamboanga Peninsula. 10-25 m. Ex. collection G.T. Poppe.
