Armeniaca collected off Augusta fall into two very distinct colour forms. While all shells are very heavy and fit as andreyi on mass ratio, they have either china white bases or rich pink orange bases.
This specimen is a dwarf classic andreyi that was ROV collected from 138 metres of water south south east of Augusta in August 2018.
It was found crawling on silty sand in a sponge garden in the early hours of the morning. It was very difficult to spot tucked under a sponge covered by it's mantle. In this depth andreyi are significantly smaller than specimens taken in 200 to 240 metres a little further offshore.
Very small pale shell with pale tan speckled dorsum bifurcated by a distinct mantle line.
The shell is gemmy other than some damage on the shells labial aperture from a fish bite. This has been re-glazed and healed by the animal as indicated by the green arrow in the photos. Attractive dorsal display. Fine++.
