Item | # 0003301273 |
Family | Fissurellidae |
Name | Fissurella crassa , Lamarck, 1822 |
Size | 70 and 54 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | Two nice specimens of Fissurella crassa. Large Fissurella species in northern Chile are actively collected by fishermen, so they often have nicks and damages on the border of the lip, and they are always found with scurria scars on the shells. This lot includes two specimens in fair condition for the species, as they have a nice border of the shell with no nicks and naturally eroded dorsums with a Scurria scar each, however they have a very nice interior of the shell, of rather strange purplish hue near the foramen. A nice lot for a very low price. |
