Item | # 0003306767 |
Family | Fissurellidae |
Name | Fissurella crassa - Very Large , Lamarck, 1822 |
Size | 81.2 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One nice, selected, and very large specimen of Fissurella crassa. Large Fissurella species in northern Chile are actively collected by fishermen, so they often have nicks and damages on the border of the lip, and they are always found with scurria scars on the shells. This particular specimen is in good condition for the species, as it has a nice border of the shell with two tiny nicks and a naturally clean and slightly eroded dorsum with a single Scurria scar. A very low price for a very large specimen of this species. |
