Item | # 0003313976 |
Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila friendii - Pretty Carnac Shell !!! , (J. E. Gray, 1831) |
Size | 83.6 mm |
Locality | Carnac Island, WA |
Note | Carnac Island friendii are prized for their size and beauty. They have been collected in reasonable numbers in the past but now few are collected. This stunning shell was collected from a yellow coating sponge in a cave from 8 metres of water north west of Carnac Island approximately ten years ago. It exhibits striking distinct dark chocolate / black spots on a bluish dorsum and a black base and margins. Unfortunately it has a couple of small chips in it's posterior siphon at the locations indicated by the green arrows in the photos. Second grade but still a very nice shell. |
