Note | Exceptionally thick and mature, hyper-glazed specimen from the black Edithburgh population. The specimen is accentuated by a dorsal black color veil. The atrata displays remarkable symmetrical form and balance. Moderate weight/size ratio with a beautiful base pattern. The specimen displays perfect siphons, base and hyper-black lateral walls. Specimen nabbed by Scuba diver Peter Clarkson at 9 meters sitting on a red sponge in sand/rubble substrate off Edithburgh, Yorke Peninsula, South Australia in the 90s. There is the slightest graininess under palpation on the lower dorsum toward and including the posterior ramp. NOTE: Data slip from Peter Clarkson not available. Grade: GEM minus. |
