Note | Beautiful, striking and hard to find endemic specimen from the California Coast. Larger specimen with standout features. The complex and angulate-fusiform specimen displays a raised spire and perfect apex. The body whorl is covered in strong scabrous lamellae. The shell showing a uniform brown/ochre color with three erect and fimbricate winged varices that are beautifully backswept at the superior varix margins. The aperture and siphon are intact. Scuba diver collected by the late, great Paul Kanner at 28-30 meters on sand next to a reef apron off Paradise Cove, Malibu, California on 4/29/2000. Copy of original data slip included. Grade: GEM. |
