Item | # 0003331425 |
Family | Haliotidae |
Name | Haliotis rubra conicopora - Solid shell !!! , PĂ©ron, 1816 |
Size | 175 mm |
Locality | Kalbarri, WA |
Note | Haliotis conicopora is a commercial fished species of abalone. The vast majority of specimens are of poor quality with excessive marine worm damage. A very limited number of specimens are of specimen grade and need careful cleaning to remove marine growths. This specimen was collected from under a ledge in 14 metres of water on algal reef off Starvation Bay to the west of Esperance by an abalone diver. The shells spire has some porosity but this is normal even in selected quality specimens. |
