| Note | A four-star deepwater spondylus that lives from New Caledonia and Australia north to the Philippines. Possibly further north and elsewhere in the Pacific, but there is not much deepwater material in collections. It is a rare colouration with wine-red spots on a white ground, enhanced by traces of yellow all over the body. It is easily distinguished from S. deforgesi by its much broader, disc-shaped form.
