Size | 6.1 mm |

Note | THE LITERATURE GIVES YOU AN IDEA OF HOW RARE THIS SHELL IS. I am particularly pleased to be able to auction this exclusive species here. It is probably one of the smallest known members of the SPONDYLIDAE family. The Spondylus exiguus, a smaller and also rare deep-water species. Spondylus exiguus, also described by Lamprell & Healy 2001 from New Caledonia, was shown in black and white in Lamprell, 2006, Raines 2002 and Poppe, 2011. The latter in PMM4 with the only known colour photo on paper. The present jewel measures 6.1 mm, comes from a depth of 200 m and is in very good condition. Extremely rare, probably less than half a dozen in private collections. A JEWEL.
Philippines. Mactan Island. Punta EngaƱo. Malingin. Trawled. 200 m.
