Size | 78.9 mm |
Locality | Australia |
Note | One of the standout armeniaca of the JES Collection, this exceptional specimen of the classic, Great Australian Bight form, exhibits ultra-rich colour, and a spectacular pattern, especially in labral profile, where a distinct, narrow, straight line of dark caramel, running the length of the shell, separates a field of creamy apricot below, from a register of yellowish ivory above, which, in turn, is succeeded by an expansive cloud of golden ochre-caramel – see above right image. Rare like this. No longer collected, and now obtainable only from old collections. A truly OUTSTANDING armeniaca for the Umbilia connoisseur. Data: Great Australian Bight, off Ceduna, South Australia, Australia; upon sand substrate; 140-150 m; 2000. Size: 78.9 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
