Item | # 0003421212 | Family | OTHER | Name | Melampus olivaceus - RARE SPECIES WOOOOW!! |
Size | 10.9 mm |
Locality | La Calechosa, Jalisco, Mexico. |
Note | ELLOBIIDAE - Melampus olivaceos (Carpenter, P.P., 1856). Rare species, I think this species is very vulnerable and has very small populations, on the open coast I have found few signs of populations, they like areas with lots of breeze, shadows like caves and especially the old wood that comes aimlessly to the coast. Some specimens that I found in certain caves, moved or disappeared after a hurricane. So it is always a mystery to find at least a small population. This specimen is here a real beauty with incredible perfect and intact apex, awesome lip and fresh great dark pattern between brown-gray-green colors. Some tiny scars near the ventral part not really detracting the beauty and rarity of this amazing species. Found walking between old organic leaves and roots of mangroves at extremely low tide, Isla "El Bajito", Barra de Navidad, Jalisco, Mexico. September 2023. Value for this special rarity and hard species to find: 20-23 euro. Good luck!! MEXICO PACIFIC. Seller country is Germany please check shipping prices only with tracking number. Thank you and good luck! |
