| Note | One exceptional and very nice specimen of Concholepas concholepas. This large muricid is the largest muricid found in Chile and one of the largest gastropods found in northern Chile. They are heavily extracted and their populations are diminishing, as it is an edible species with a large muscle. Usually their shells are very encrusted with encrusting calcareous algae and cirripedian communities, among many other epibionts. This specimen is particulary nice, as it is very clean and it has very nice frills and sculpture. The lip is perfect, with no nicks or chips, and overal is an outstanding specimen, albeit in the smaller size. This is your opportunity to have a very nice specimen for the species, and an interesting natural history item. |
