Note | Heavy, wonderfully glossed and patterned cone discovered in a rare location. The cone displays a perfect protoconch, natural lip and spire. The shell is a strikingly dark hued, beautifully tented and gently banded example of the species. The shell was found buried under sand beneath a dead coral slab at 24 meters off Motumano Point, Nuka Hiva, Marquesas in 11/2000 by Scuba diver Paul Kanner. The shell comes with original data slip. The specimen has two minor/shallow/subtle growth folds located dorsally and ventrally. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
