| Note | F+++. A PLEASING LIGHT PINK-PURPLE AMPULLACEA. The ampullacea is quite a rare species. This Indo-Pacific species has only recently been correctly named, since the iconography of Vos. The usual coloration of Ampullacea is dark brown, although cream-brown specimens are occasionally found. We are dealing here with an extremely rare coloration that has never been seen before: slightly pinkish-purple mixed with cream. Because of the extreme rarity of this coloration, this is definitely a museum-quality piece. As with almost all ampoules, the lip is filed, but in this case very little and barely visible. The quality is Fine+++ as if you look closely you can see small defects as on any large shell, most dealers will probably call this a gem.
