Item | # 0003472754 |
Family | BIVALVIA |
Name | Kurtiella compressa - Very Rare , (Dall, 1913) |
Size | 9.3 and 7.7 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | Two very nice specimens of the very rare species Kurtiella compressa, which has been cited previously only from the Juan Fernández Archipelago and so this is a new record for this hard to obtain species.
These two specimens were collected washed ashore in sand after a storm and they have their soft parts dry inside. They are very narrow bivalves as its name indicates. A low price for a pair of very rare species endemic from Chile. |
